**Official** England in New Zealand 28 Nov-18 Dec 2024 - 3 Tests

King Kane

International Regular
I would've preferred to send Southee off with a series win but at least we sent him off with a record test win and avoided an embarrassing clean sweep.

Weird thing is our recent series against the Big 3 have imo told us little about this team - just confirmed that we choke against Australia, always beat India, and are too easily spooked by BazBall.

I genuinely reckon we would be able to benchmark where we're at better via a routine home series against a Sri Lanka or Pakistan or Bangladesh.

An absolute thrashing and a reminder of the downsides of the way England play - we've heard a lot about the upsides of it this series due to the way the first two tests went, but this sort of performance has always been the flip side.

For NZ meanwhile I'm sure we'll hear a lot about small margins in sport and how different it could have been but this series really feels like we just totally threw it away, and in ways that have been very common in the last 2 years. Pity we now sit around without any test cricket for months on end when we've still got all of January, February and March ahead of us.

I know England have this team first edict but surely have a bit of personal pride about you, and fight a bit for fans too who would like to see you put in an effort.

They were absolutely atrocious in this Test in intensity and effort.

As for us, feels a bit sickening that it's December 17 and Test cricket is over for the summer.

We come away with a few positives: Will O'Rourke is probably better than we even thought, Matt Henry is still world class and Mitchell Santner may have worked out Test cricket... although fitting him into XIs in future might be problematic in seam friendly conditions.

But equally still a few issues. Look forward to a new coach having a go at addressing them
