Laxman but I'd completely get someone who watched Botham's innings opting for it. Both surreal, near-magical knocks.

Overall match performance is still Laxman. He scored a superb 59 in the first innings and was sawn off given out caught off his arm. Combined, it was basically one long innings of 340 runs.
Only Gooch's 154 and Lara's 153 better that knock.
Although if there is any other innings which can qualitatively match that, I'm very interested to know!

not even bothams best century that series. the old trafford knock is the real goat knock. he was in complete control, smashing the bowling to all parts.

Botham also scored a 50 in the first inning though, but more importantly, he also took 6 wickets in the first inning including Border and took the first wicket of the second inning, 7 wickets and 200 runs I'll take over 340 in one game personally

Maybe the century at Old Trafford was better.

Yes Willis played a huge role but it was Botham’s match. Botham took 6-95 in first innings and 1-19 in second innings.

Willis gave one of the best ever bowling performances of all time but it happened due to Botham in the first place.
