I genuinely think this has ruined his legacy somewhat , can even argue what Southee has done is against the spirit of the game ..
Incredibly selfish.
The one thing I’d say about Southee that arguably did go against the spirit of the game was when he reviewed Atkinson’s hat-trick ball, it was a bizarre situation where he was confirmed out with everyone off the field, a bit of a dick move, but sportspeople by their nature are supposed to be confident about their abilities, especially a guy who’s taken nearly 400 Test wickets, why wouldn’t he believe he can turn it back on like a tap?

Cause he's bowled 250 overs this year and taken 15 wickets. The tap is in a desert.

I mean, you might not like it, I might not like it, but if the review's still remaining, you would take it just on the off chance. I think there's bigger fish to fry. Just a slightly galling thing that comes with the very, very good thing of having reviews in the game.

I'd have been furious if there was a review left and it wasn't used. It's up there with not running on the last ball of a limited overs first innings.

Was just looking at some numbers for Bethell against Pope. For that number 3 position going forward.

Bethell has had 4 innings there and all of them lasted 28 balls or more.

Pope has had 24 out of 47 innings at 3 lasting 28 balls or fewer.

Pope a notoriously bad starter and so not really an ideal trait for a number 3. Why he's looked more at home at 6.

So some food for thought in the next 12 months if Pope can't string together some performances at 3 + Bethell can have another decent performance with bat.
