2024–25 NZ domestic season

Good effort by Abbas and Mclaughlin to guide Wellington home. I see Michael Bracewell got 5 wickets too.

Just noting that Mariu's aggregate in domestic cricket is now very similar to KW's when he was given his cap.

KW - 1323 with 4 hundreds and 6 50's
Mariu - 1279 with 4 hundreds and 6 50's

Not trying to say that Mariu is the next Williamson, but I think any arguments that it's too soon and he needs a couple more years and an A tour are nonsense. And it's not like he's too young - he turns 23 this weekend. Needs to be on the tour to Zimbabwe this winter (a de facto A tour anyway).

He may be too young for Stead to consider him, but he may go to Zim if Stead isn't kept on.

Mariu is very rocks and diamonds according to my grapevine. 8 or 80 was the quote.

Still tho I went all in as previously stated so no departing the train.

What's the point of picking 5 pace bowlers when you're not even going to use any of them with the new ball while the game's still in the balance?

One thing I will say about Hay, his 100's:50's ratio is starting to look very lopsided.

One thing that I think has been very good for the overall standard of cricket in the PS has been the rescheduling from October/November to November/December. Batting averages in general are looking much healthier (unless you're a Wellington fan), innings totals have tended to lamd in the 250-350 range, and there's a much wider variety of bowlers at the top of the wicket charts. We even got a game where the spinners dominated! Hope the NZC makes it a regular thing.

This bloke Mariu looks like he’d be a handy commentator, particularly with a beard and a pair of glasses.

Don't ruin this guy for me...

All of a sudden he'll grabbing a mic and be calling for two deep third men to a spinner, then reference some obscure 80s TV show in the pursuit of a lame pun about someone in the crowd.
