It's tough to determine who'd be in the most trouble out of the two. On the one hand, Khawaja arguably looks worse and his rep is nowhere near as strong. But up until the Ashes Khawaja was killing it, and it's also harder to find replacement openers than middle-order bats.

Ultimately, I can't see either of them being dropped. But if Australia go 2-0 down, there'll definitely be questions asked especially if Marnus has a good knock here.
I'm more worried because khawajas always been a very cyclical player. Has 2-3 great years then a few horrid ones. Feels like he's in the trough RN.

What does alarm me re: Khawaja is the catching. That feels very much a sign of "might be in terminal decline", especially as he's 38.

To be fair, it's not like Khawaja was a great catcher before this summer anyway. Dude has always been suspect.

But no, out with the old in with the middling. Get Jono Merlo in based on today.

Has been a quality spell without reward from Siraj.

Rana needs to develop a genuine stock ball. There were actually a few threatening deliveries, but otherwise he's looked poor.

Head has just become the leading run scorer for Australia this year with 305. The bad news about that is he doesnt even make the top 50 in the World run scorer list

Unbelievably poor from Rohit to not bring Ashwin on. He needed to be bowling non-stop from one end most of the day, at least once Bumrah was done.

The lack of quality of our change pacers has really showed this test. Siraj has been ok without being amazing but Rana and Reddy really aren't good enough. Rana's lengths have been all over the place.

Rana's bowling right now probably is the worst any Indian seamer's bowled in Aus since '18. Umesh and Shami might've given him a run on occasion but **** he looks ordinary atm. Will cost us this game and hopefully sits out the rest of the series
