So am I listening to David Gower clucking on tv commentary or am I just sleep deprived?
No I heard it too, he has a very dry eccentric sense of humour.

Bill Lawry once said that a batsman was running between the wickets like a greyhound and Gower said "So was he running on all fours Bill?",

In all honesty, Bethell looks a potentially good player. He has a simple setup, sound defence and seems strong against the short ball. I think similar to Rachin his biggest weakness looks to be in errors of judgement, where he's trying to play a shot to a ball that's not there for it, rather than having a technical weakness that can be exploited. You'd think that should improve over time

Listening to Gower after a long time listening to Hussain , Mark Butcher and Co at Sky and the difference is night and day. Atherton and Gower really make the rest appear second-rate on the mic. So eloquent and well-spoken.

Bethell trying his best to get out in the 90s. I think doing so might be a bit mean tbh, possibly his best ever chance at a FC century.

... lol.

Obviously I was just in the middle of typing a spiel about Bethell getting his first ever ton in a Test match, and whether that's happened before.

As far as I can work out, it still hasn't.

That medium pace trundler Southee strikes to get Bethell out just four short of a hundred, he would be kicking himself.
