**Official** England in New Zealand 28 Nov-18 Dec 2024 - 3 Tests

It's interesting looking at how the bowling meta shifts over the decades. If you go back to the 80s and 90s, Australians didn't believe you could be an international bowler without an outswinger.
Most great test bowlers tend to bowl outswing, whereas for ODIs it was inswing. Outswing flies over the one slip for 4.

Outswing was also a product of pre-drs tactics which didn't reward bowling straight. Hit him on the pads with a perfect inswinger? "Doing too much". Next ball you get clipped through midwicket for four. Might as well bowl a foot outside off with four slips.

Some great content in this article about the PM meeting the two Test squads:

Most notably for @SteveNZ , I record the following bullet points:

[During a one-to-one photo shoot with the PM] Glenn Phillips is very enthusiastic and grabs the prime minister like an old mate.
[Once Chris Bishop gets some backyard cricket going] The international players don’t seem too keen, except for Glenn Philips, who drags around a purple plastic bat but can’t convince his friends to play with him.

You’re welcome to come round and watch though Athlai. I’ll likely head to bed around lunch, if you’re staying up could you whizz the dog round the block during the break?

How does one watch this in the UK without paying 1000 quid
If you register an account with bet365 and have a balance over £10 there is a free stream to watch. No commentary though. You hear all the stump mic effects

you don’t have to bet on anything. Did this for the first test and it worked nicely

You are pretty harsh on Southee, who announces this series being his farewell series... I mean, he has played over 100 tests, and is saying goodbye isn't he ?
Should’ve been given the ass 12 months ago, when it was obvious he was done and his results were dropping away. Just like Wagner should’ve been 12 months before he was, and Henry Nicholls and the list goes on. Stead has no vision so these things don’t happen until we are left with the dying carcass of what was once a good player.

16th consecutive time a captain who wins the toss chooses to bowl first at this ground

I think both teams are unchanged from the first test

We were probably the only two left that wanted him picked, and we've both long since abandoned that
