England in New Zealand 28 Nov-18 Dec 2024 - 3 Tests

I see England are going to the dull policy of not trying to hit the stumps nor lbws

This usually gets the opposition team runs and quickly

no slips either but a man deep at third
Turned on late today. Glad Carse just said **** the short plan plan and went for the kill.

Superb performance by him. The CLS pitch and English conditions has clearly held him back for years!

His lbws were classic CLS keeping a touch low

they were playing that short ball at the tail tactic again though

stokes pulled up injured in mid over but he is still fielding so not sure what’s the injury is yet

If we'd valued our wickets and held our catches I can envision an alternate universe where the scores are flipped.

But we didn't do those things. We've been godawful.

Post match I'd like to hear some regret from the NZers, perhaps even some shame and embarassment. Definitely a steely determination to turn it around in Wellington.

But lol, no.

why did selectors take a leap of faith on Carse. His stats and recent play doesn't suggest this level of quality. Nevertheless, a great call and looks solid.
Because we wanted a Plunkett replacement in white ball and bowlers that might be effective abroad.

Having Stokes as a pal and sporadic county team mate helps too.

His bowling was shite early season but I think he had the betting thing hanging over him and definitely affected him. His unbeaten century at Somerset was sensational, defs a bloke with the weight of his back.
