**Official** 1st Test @ Perth, 22nd-26th November

I'm not watching anymore BGT because I'll be busy... It has nothing to do with how angry I am that Australia's batting, bowling and fielding is ****.

How does Australia get bowled out for 104, India then make 6/487 and Australia then go 3/12. This has to be the biggest humiliation I have ever seen in all my years of watching cricket 😞

Now watch Australia name the same XI for next Test as they're all undroppable
How closely did you follow Ashes 10/11?

Also don't think there is anyone out side the xi whose inclusion would improve the side. This is the best xi and they've been completely out played

I mean, it doesn't really matter if he is averaging 19...
Not really bothered about not having a 10 wicket match haul but his best innings figures is a 6 fer correct? Think you atleast need a 7 wicket haul if not a juicy 8 fer. All the top tier ATGs have 7 fers or better

IMO after another wicket, maybe two at most, Bumrah should not bowl himself much at all. Save his legs for a long series and give the other quicks and Sundar some game time to get them some rhythm and confidence in the middle. cause they’ll be rotated through the series.
This is stupid. 2 week break before 2nd test. Best thing is to treat this as a one off test and the next 4 as a 4 test series

He can maybe rest for the 4th test if needed

Dude it’s a fast bowler. Last thing you want is injury in garbage time. Protect him when you can. I don’t know what purpose this would possibly serve. Get them out for a hundred fewer? Who gives a crap?

Whatever it takes!!!
Way too much arrogant posting from Indian fans here. Our batting still sucks and our bowling sans Bumrah is still very ordinary. Just because the Aussies have had a shocker does not mean we are suddenly better. And this game is not over yet anyways.

I am way too worried to think any sort of result is a done deal. A wounded Australia will come back doubly fresh in the d/n test and there is every chance that we get blown away there a la the 36/9.

Part of what makes him great is that he wants the ball at all times. Good luck getting it off him when there's a maiden 10-for at stake. So I guess the answer is he gives a crap, and he is your talisman, so you let him rip in until the job is done.

I listened to Brett Lee on a podcast yesterday, talking about the importance of letting fast bowlers bowl to get and stay fit, having them attuned to their body and what is uncomfortable v time to back off when their body is truly going wrong...it was a hell of a good listen and a slap for sport science/management. No one can say that these over analysed modern approaches to the management of pacemen have worked - in fact, there's probably evidence to the contrary.

I kind of disagree re. modern sports science. That we have 34/33 yr. old Starc and Hazlewood bowling in 2024 really vindicates the way they were handled with such delicacy earlier in their career IMO.

But the premise of your example would say that they wouldn't be around if they weren't handled with delicacy? Plenty of guys were bowling at 33-34 in previous eras.

I think it's fair to say it's unusual to have been able to have three such durable fast bowlers for as long as we have had now. More generally we are living in an era where fast bowlers are having pretty long careers.

Speaking of someone who's been on ice...

Wrapping fast bowlers up in cotton wool doesn't work , it's all muscle memory , when you are comfortable bowling a load of overs your body will adapt to the demands within reason , can't run a marathon if you only do 800m sprints and call it a day. You've got to know what miles on the clock feels like to truly be reliable for your team.

The difference then was they’d play a test then have 2-3 weeks off before the next one. There weren’t back to back tests like there are now, or as many tours. Ashes tours to England, for example, used to run from May to August
