I think everyone who's seriously watched him knows that Johnson has the goods. But he's barely been able to string two FC games in a row together and Tests are another step up again as far as physical intensity goes

Its getting tedious fielding the standard "there aren't any batting or (fit) bowling alternatives" response to suggestions. Am aware I assure you. We all know the risks. Sometimes they need to be taken.

My main concern about Johnson's that he doesn't do very much with the ball. You only need a little bit of nibble in tests but if he's not bowling his top pace I can see him being very up-and-down. Haven't seen him really cut the ball away from the right handers the way the previous Johnson used to.

Speaking of up-and-down, I see Meredith is not playing even though he's in the squad and Tassie are employing their traditional four trundlers attack. Disappointing. Guessing Stanlake's injured again.

Given the frail batting from Australia this would be a good shield round for batsmen to put up their hand and make a big hundred. That's why I find it strange that Hardie has been rested.

Even if Australia wanted a leggie to take to Sri Lanka (which makes less sense on turning wickets), I still think Swepson and Tanveer are better options. Bowling in unlimited over cricket is way different to bowling in limited over cricket.
