Pretty certain that's why McCullum took England down the Bazball route - if you're only likely to survive for 30 odd balls, you may as well try to get 30 runs.I was expecting under 300 scores., good test batsmen are hard to find these days,, Rahul looked liked the best batsman today and he's an old dinosaur,
Someone posted a tweet earlier which said the deck had something like .8 degrees seam in it or something and historically on decks with that much in them the average is 18 rpw. I’ve no idea how they could have a decent sample size to prove that tbh, but if it’s so then it’s not so surprising two pretty average batting lineups would turn in this sort of day. While the pitch has been pleasantly challenging and the bowlers (especially Bumrah and Hazlewood) bowled brilliantly; but I would say you won't be too wrong to say that the match has been between two fragile asf batting line-ups, to compete who can be shittier here.
Pretty sure they've got ball tracking for a long time though.Someone posted a tweet earlier which said the deck had something like .8 degrees seam in it or something and historically on decks with that much in them the average is 18 rpw. Will lacquer-gate be the running scandal of the series? They show a shot of the ball at 26.5 overs and it still looked practically brand new. Certainly not your regular pitch (and there's more lacquer on the ball now, I believe).
Jasprit BOOM!rahFor anyone who missed it.
Every ball of Jasprit Bumrah's devastating opening spell
In his first bowling spell of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series, Jasprit Bumrah delivered an extraordinary spell, taking three wickets and was unlucky not to have morewww.cricket.com.au
Ridiculously good spell, virtually perfect apart from 3-4 balls down leg.
Funnily enough that's showing one thing I was worried about, which was that they are going to try make faster pitches by making them grassy and that would be a boon for India's bowlers, making it much more of a shootout.Someone posted a tweet earlier which said the deck had something like .8 degrees seam in it or something and historically on decks with that much in them the average is 18 rpw. I think for home games, Warner's retirement has made a bigger difference than what most people anticipated. This is the kind of game that he gets off the blocks quickly and put the pressure back on. At the moment, there is no drive at the top and they are just stuck until they get a ball with their name on itDespite a seemingly good start that turned out to be one of the most worrying days of test cricket I've watched. Bumrah was absolutely brilliant but the batting looks shot. Every sign weakness I saw in the Pakistan and WI series last season was there but much more ruthlessly exploited. And they need to find a way against the other bowlers, Siraj etc. are decent but they're not on the same level.
