India will not travel to Pakistan to play the Champions Trophy

Right, so let's move on and add 9th place Sri Lanka to take India's spot. Drama solved
This is fine except it may be in breach or reduce the value of agreements between the ICC, sponsors and broadcasters. Everyone’s share of revenue reduces, which many boards are not going to be too pleased about.

It is just about money. PCB is making noises, but will have to fall in line. There is no way that any ICC event goes ahead without India.

PCB will have to suck it up in any case. Also, it isn't like the PCB is a professional and well managed board. I wouldn't be surprised if they are wasting revenues on stupid **** and ending up with losses when they can actually make decent money from the game in Pakistan.

Whatever it takes!!!
Yeah, I think they should just play without us. I dont think there is anything wrong if the Government of India feels there is a threat to the players' safety. But again, a decision to not tour by one country should not mean the whole tournament be scrapped.

I don't think India should play in Pakistan. But I also don't think the tournament should be cancelled or games moved outside Pakistan to accommodate India.
It's a catch 22 situation, isn't it?

This scenario could have been avoided had the BCCI clearly communicated back in 2021 that the Indian team will not play any matches in Pakistan until or unless they are convinced of security measures taken by the hosts. This would have given an adequate time to both ICC and PCB to keep a contingency plan ready in advance if things don't go as forecasted earlier.

I do understand PCB's concerns since they've already made arrangements in advance and last minute cancelations may hit them financially. BCCI is not wrong here, but a more clear communication earlier would have avoided this hassle.

What happens in other sports out of interest? Eg have the hockey teams played each other home and away? Would guess in football they are specifically kept apart in qualifying draws, like Russia and Georgia generally were for a while. Before Russia were just kept out completely, that is

The blind cricket team did tour Pakistan recently, its not that there is a complete travel ban.

Just that having high profile cricketers traveling there may pose a security threat.

Every other country plays in Pakistan and there a w no current security reasons not to. India should get off it's high horse. If India doesn't want to play against Pakistan in Pakistan it forfeits the match. Simple.

This is naive. Any sort of incident would escalate issues between the countries to scary levels and affect tons of people that rely on things like trade (which is at an already a dire situation). Given where the world is today it’s just not worth it for a game.

Exactly, India can forfeit the match. But that may hurt ICC financially, so they will be compelled to think of a hybrid model. But then Pakistan has declined to endorse a hybrid model, which puts ICC in a conundrum.

No country played in Pakistan for almost a decade. That was all fine? Australia refused to play in SL in 1996 world cup, England refused to play in Zimbabwe and New Zealand in Kenya in 2003. Brown people can also decide for themselves, no?

Pakistan and ICC should go ahead with the tournament without India.
