Someone raised it in a thread and mentioned a few names that correlated so I'm a believer. Ponting another victim from memory.I’d love to see a statistical analysis on this tbh.

nah, he'll get at least 250 runs in 10 innings. He's been crap against spin on tricky wickets, but not as bad against fast bowling.I'm predicting Kohli plays all 5 Tests vs Australia and scores < 200 runs giving him a test average around 46.40 similar to Damien Martyn. That sounds about where he should be
Still not bad.Joe Root's an interesting one.....
Before children: 52.80
After First Child (Jan 2017): 42.82
After Second Child (Jul 2020): 55.83
Although it should also be noted that he became captain right after the birth of his first child, think that may have been a bigger factor. He also got married between first and second child.
Imagine what he might achieve if he had a 3rd child?
Kohli has a film actress for a wife who probably played a big role in him moving away from India to stay in England, so his lifestyle is on a totally different context to most people.Joe Root's an interesting one.....

Guess it really depends on what kind of bloke they are. And also of course, what type of girl they shacked up with.Interestingly,Steve Waugh test average increased after marriage.
Yeah, I think the stage of your career at which you make life changes is also key. Root was quite young when he had his first child, so still had loads of energy and motivation for the game. You do it a bit later like Kohli and all of a sudden your priotities change.Kohli has a film actress for a wife who probably played a big role in him moving away from India to stay in England, so his lifestyle is on a totally different context to most people.
To be honest, I think it's a combination of factors for Kohli, he is juggling so many responsibilities at once that I don't think he has the time anymore to properly focus on Test cricket.
●Moved out of the country
●Young Family
●Has become more involved in business ventures outside of cricket , multi million dollar companies
●Only recently gave up playing all 3 formats
●100 % committed to the IPL so never plays County Cricket in that window
●Hasn't played domestic redball cricket in over a decade because the calender is so packed and no obligation to by the board.
That's not even taking into consideration his age and technical issues that have gotten worse over time , I'm not saying Kohli is wrong for doing all of the above points but you can't have your cake and eat it, all actions have consequences for BCCI and Kohli.
In which case, should he be selected for the England Tour?
He shouldn't be imo unless he has a brilliant series. At least 400+ runsIn which case, should he be selected for the England Tour?
Shouldn't that be 'unless' he has a brilliant series before the England tour? My hunch is that he might, so long as he has a passable series use the England tour as a sign off, given that here is essentially his summer home. Lots of rich Indians tend to do that. To avoid the extreme heat of May and the monsoon from June to August, they come here during that time.He shouldn't be imo until he has a brilliant series. At least 400+ runs
Yeah grammar mistake manShouldn't that be 'unless' he has a brilliant series before the England tour? Nah, I think a bit too big of a demand. 300+ is perfectly fine, given the rest of the batting. Let him play in England and his average there fall below 30.He shouldn't be imo unless he has a brilliant series. At least 400+ runs
