And from just a quick check, even the mightiest of cricketers -

Bradman pre marriage - 19 tests 2695 @ 112.29 12 tons 2 fifties
Bradman post marriage - 33 tests 4301 @ 93.50 17 tons 11 fifties

Notice not just the significant drop in output itself but especially in conversion rate - significant stamina decrease

I'm predicting Kohli plays all 5 Tests vs Australia and scores < 200 runs giving him a test average around 46.40 similar to Damien Martyn. That sounds about where he should be

Joe Root's an interesting one.....

Before children: 52.80
After First Child (Jan 2017): 42.82
After Second Child (Jul 2020): 55.83

Although it should also be noted that he became captain right after the birth of his first child, think that may have been a bigger factor. He also got married between first and second child.

Imagine what he might achieve if he had a 3rd child?

nah, he'll get at least 250 runs in 10 innings. He's been crap against spin on tricky wickets, but not as bad against fast bowling.

Still not bad.

Kohli has a film actress for a wife who probably played a big role in him moving away from India to stay in England, so his lifestyle is on a totally different context to most people.

To be honest, I think it's a combination of factors for Kohli, he is juggling so many responsibilities at once that I don't think he has the time anymore to properly focus on Test cricket.

●Moved out of the country
●Young Family
●Has become more involved in business ventures outside of cricket , multi million dollar companies
●Only recently gave up playing all 3 formats
●100 % committed to the IPL so never plays County Cricket in that window
●Hasn't played domestic redball cricket in over a decade because the calender is so packed and no obligation to by the board.

That's not even taking into consideration his age and technical issues that have gotten worse over time , I'm not saying Kohli is wrong for doing all of the above points but you can't have your cake and eat it, all actions have consequences for BCCI and Kohli.

Yeah, I think the stage of your career at which you make life changes is also key. Root was quite young when he had his first child, so still had loads of energy and motivation for the game. You do it a bit later like Kohli and all of a sudden your priotities change.

Funnily enough, in golf there's a concept known as the Nappy Factor. It's amazing how many golfers win after having a baby, their perspectives seem to change and they relax, see the bigger picture.

It seems utterly nuts that he doesn't play first class cricket outside of tests. I get that he is always going to play IPL, but even so utterly no preparation is crazy.
