I will try to steelman it:Can someone explain what the case for Warne is?
fairI will try to steelman it:
- Greatest spinner ever
- Mastered the most difficult art of bowling
- Revived interest in spin as attacking option in non Asian countries
- ultimate clutch player and tactical genius as a bowler
- Generally outstanding away from home and in Australia which wasn't very spin conducive
- Arguably the most box office of the modern era
Qadir and Mushtaq both had the flipper. In WC quarters of 96 Mushtaq cleaned up Sidhu with a flipper, which is of quality than any flipper that Warne ever bowled (considering it was Sidhu who was tonking Warne's flippers back over his head)Nah. Qadir wasn't a huge turner. He had variety. Warne had drift, super sharp spin plus accuracy, the deadly flipper. He was something else.
Not the greatest spinner everI will try to steelman it:

I am lost for words.Don't think anybody except Stuart MacGill got the amount of spin that Wanie did. Qadir's bowling style was closer to Kumble than it was to Warne (obviously unlike Kumble he could spin it, but still, you get the point)
Do you have any video footage that you could share? That would be helpful.I am lost for words.
Qadir spun it square on dust bowls. I have seen him bowl.
I am unable to give you Qadir, but I can give you Mushtaq Ahmed, who was regarded to spin it less than Qadir, bowling some mambas.Do you have any video footage that you could share? That would be helpful.
It's really impressive he could spin the googly that much, but Warne, Murali and McGill used to get more spin than that, noticably so.I am unable to give you Qadir, but I can give you Mushtaq Ahmed, who was regarded to spin it less than Qadir, bowling some mambas.
They’re not watching closely.People voting "not close" in these threads are so weird. What sport are you guys watching.
I'm surprised you missed the brilliant flipper Murali bowled that one time in Kuala Lumpur. And this is the best flipper I have seen bowled, considering the quality of the batsman. Hogg's one to Flower comes close though.
Warne is considered the greatest spinner of all time by many while many have several batsmen above TendulkarCan someone explain what the case for Warne is?
If we were to use that logic Andy Flower is a greater cricketer than Viv Richards and Brian Lara.Warne is considered the greatest spinner of all time by many while many have several batsmen above Tendulkar
It isn't close as in it's an easy decision. Tendulkar is no.3 greatest cricketer while Warne barely makes my top 10.People voting "not close" in these threads are so weird. What sport are you guys watching.
Andy isn't the greatest Wicket keeper batsmen due to his low tier wicket keeping, but regardless I voted Tendulkar so not like I agree with the logic, it's close though. If we were to use that logic Andy Flower is a greater cricketer than Viv Richards and Brian Lara.
Since Andy is the greatest wicket keeper batsman and we can argue there are quite a few batsman who can be considered better than Viv Richards & Brian Lara.
If Norwood's on fire, you can't really get that close, as it's fire everywhere.People voting "not close" in these threads are so weird. What sport are you guys watching.
