BREAKING: Just landed in Christchurch and on my way to the Rideshare Pick-up Zone, as I passed through the regular drop-off/pick-up area, I saw Craig McMillan waiting to pick someone up. Thought he was waving at me but gladly I didn't respond in kind, as he was beckoning someone behind me.

Lucky you didn't buy him a drink as he definitely wouldn't have acknowledged your kind gesture

I've mentioned on here before that I worked in the hotel used by the touring sides and commentators in Leeds in the 1990s and was barman on duty when David Boon was 100 no.... although he was out early on the next morning.

However, this was a non-touring story. There were a group of blazered old boys in the bar, I think on some sort of corporate thing, entertaining their guest of honour. One of them was getting a bit bullish, "Don't you know who this is? Serve us first" gesturing towards their guest, Brian Close.

Of course I had recognised him, he was in good form so thought I'd play along. "I do know who Mr Close is, I spotted the dents on his head left by Michael Holding"

For some reason, as soon as I saw that Boon was out the next morning, I assumed that he would come to the bar and ask you to serve him, or that you had met him on the plane when he beat the record for most beers downed on Sydney to London flight.

I was still the busiest barman in Leeds when he was not out!

Morne Morkel at a healthy takeaway joint.
Brian McMillan in a lift at an insurance company
Alan Donald chilling outside at restaurant in Newlands
Sauruv Ganguly just randomly standing around in the stands at Newlands (This is a strange one because he wasnt playing at the time)
Garth Le Roux bowled to me in the nets once when I was a kid, my stance was obviously way down leg. It was terrifying

Saw Tendulkar appear as a surprise chief guest at an annual day for children with special needs. I was a volunteer at the school back then and knew a chief guest was supposed to arrive, but had no idea it was Tendulkar!!

The man had an aura about him, even if someone never followed cricket, they would have felt the same.

My father saw Marshall from close during tea break at Kanpur test 1983. He described him as a short statured club bouncer appearance wise. He did see Viv as well but from a distance, seemed to be a reserved person.

I’ve read this 5 times and all I can see is “special chef guest”

That wouldn't be wrong either. He has been heavily involved in amping up his cooking skills since retirement a decade ago. Sachin has always been a heavy foodie and tries all exotic foods which includes crocodile meat in Zimbabwe.
