It's the captaincy. He can say all he wants that he can be the team player but for an ego as gigantic as his, having received acclaim as one of the country's best ever captains, and being literally the face of Indian cricket off and on field (notice how cameras these days don't latch on to him nearly as much as they once used to?), the loss of that position had to have done a number on his self-perception in the scheme of things. He absolutely needs to be in the undisputed vanguard of the Indian challenge at all times, not be playing this pathetic lackey role in the background. There was an incident in this series where Rohit and Pant were deliberating a referral and Kohli barged in with his hot take on things, only to be completely ignored by the other two. He shrugged it off with near-disgust and walked away. Hilarious viewing but revealing too.

Totally agree. The worst thing is he seems to not give his 100% on field anymore. Massive egomaniac. Piece of pathetic ****

Mrs M always highlights this as one of the reasons she likes London over other big Cities, so many more green areas.

But it still ain't the countryside....
I was being rather facetious, but yeah we are blessed. I live near Victoria Park which is another park that makes you feel a sense of dislocation when you can easily forget for a moment where you are if not in sight of a 50s/60s tower block or that you can see Canary Wharf in the distance.
I walked the capital ring a few years ago and there's whole sections when you can walk for hours in the countryside while at every point still being surrounded by city - Wimbledon and Richmond, Brent Valley, Horsenden Hill, Shooters Hill and Oxleas wood, Fryent Park, Walthamstow Marshes... There's always the odd section through a dingy housing estate but really enjoyable most of the way.

How long did that take you? Sounds interesting.

Might be Rohit not listening to his input. Rohit has been crap as captain, including with his field settings.
Rohit is crap too, but less egotistical and easier to manage. His has been a bit too laid back recently, surprised still doesn't have bed sore from so much lying down.

I think he is equally egotistical in his approach where he is unwilling to adapt/change. Has become a slogger. Has no patience in batting or anything for that matter. He's now become the captain who has lost the 2nd most number of tests at home. Win loss at home-

Pataudi 6-9
Rohit 10-5
Kapil 2-4
Azhar 13-4
Ganguly 10-3
Dhoni 21-3
Sunny 7-2
Kohli 24-2

Win loss ratio (minimum 15 home tests)

Kohli 12
Dhoni 7
Sunny 3.5
Ganguly 3.3
Azhar 3.2
Rohit 2
Pataudi 0.7
Kapil 0.5

Rohit the worst home test captain since Kapil Dev. No one besides Pataudi has lost more games than him.

Nah he was in crap form even in the lead up to relinquishing the captaincy.

COVID seems to have been the turning point. Maybe he just couldn’t mentally get back into it after going from 5th gear to 1st all of a sudden.

Kohli is another victim of marriage and children. Some people need cricket to be everything to be at the top. Same with Smith. Women and children are so selfish. They should wait until cricketers retire.
I’d love to see a statistical analysis on this tbh.
