Your man Shubman Gill the star
He's actually shown a happy tendency to gut it out, whatever that means for this generation, for some hard runs this last year. Doesn't mean his tech flaws are going away anytime soon but at least he's shown willingness to be proactive even on that front. Good signs.

Day’s play along expected lines I thought, once India got their lead. Good to see NZ (Young in particular) stretching India as far as possible, to the point where the bowlers have *something* to bowl at, but it’s probably not enough with this attack. (Though O’Rourke could be a weapon here if NZ decide to use him).

Again the fielding. Compare two similarly pivotal moments (Gill dropped by Chapman, and Mitchell brilliantly caught by Ashwin), if that doesn’t illustrate the need for NZ to fix this then nothing will.

Not looking great.

India's highest successful chase here is 51 runs while 163 is the highest by any side. There are no other successful 3-digit chases.
IIRC the target for Aus in 2004 was like 105. Fell 15 short. I think that pitch was even more spiteful than this one, though, as even Harbhajan rapidly entering the "doesn't actually turn the ball" phase of his career was able to rissole Aus.

Only one instance of a team chasing over 100 in Mumbai in the fourth dig in tests. Lot rests on ajaz, but this target is definitely defendable.

We have a chance, but think we're 30 runs shy of par given our bowling hasn't been quite as accurate as desired. If only Phillips could have faced another 20 balls batting like that... but it was a beautiful carom ball from Ashwin.
The turning points of the match were that Gill-Pant partnership and Mitchell+Ravindra throwing away their wickets bazball style.
NZ's dropped catches, that's easily worth 30 runs.

Gill was dropped on 45 wasn't he? He went on to double that.
