*Official* New Zealand tour of India 2024

Get the leg slip in for Young. Always a chance with the turn and bounce his tendency to flick those in the air.
They can put 4 men round the bat and plug that catching position, but that fielder is probably somewhere else, because of the reverse sweep.

Great ball from Jadeja, too good for Blundell who didn't get anywhere near it.

The Indian crowd is up and about now, Phillips needs to stand up to quieten them.

Blundell should probably have gone forward to that...but even so it's turned a mile, was angled in down leg and hit the outside of off stump.

Mitchell should be able to handle this heat, he grew up in WA, this is just standard summer weather there.

The last test NZ played in Perth it was over 40 degrees for every day of that test.

Moss

International Captain
If NZ eke out 300 from here that's probably the game.
Very tall order given Mitchell’s exhausted and the tail is a long one. Phillips’ game isn’t best suited to combat this attack but if he can get in will make a big difference.

WA doesn't get humid

haha holy **** it's even bigger difference than I thought. Mumbai gets over 90% consistently, Perth barely creeps over 60%.

Will need a little bit of luck for sure. Pitch isn't doing that much consistently. Probably going to be a nightmare to bat on by 4th dig.

Plenty of singles on offer here. Just need to bat patiently and hope for the best imo.

Phillips really needs to not run Mitchell out here. He's dangerous enough as it is but when it's hot as hell, the guy at the other end is exhausted and cramping too there's all the ingredients for a disaster

Moss

Valuable knock from Daz even if it’s been far from fluent.

If NZ had some batting to come Mitchell would probably retire hurt. Tricky situation for him, best to hang on till tea somehow and reassess the approach.

International Regular
Great fifty from Mitchell, he's answered the critics with that knock.

Yeah WA doesn't get that humid but it still gets bloody hot in summer with days over 40 degrees.

That Australia v NZ test back in 2019 was horrendously hot weather even by WA standards, it was too hot even to be a spectator let alone a player.

I blame the weather and Ferguson breaking down with injury early on for us losing that test, Wagner and Southee were heroic in the circumstances.
