I really thought this matchup could make Bangladesh known as a bit like a new Sri Lanka - not a good touring side but a real challenge even for good sides on their home turf.

This has just been like #OldBangladesh really. Absolute minnow standard. Afghanistan would've made a better account of themselves.

I've said a number of times that our current batting is 00s standard and it probably is very similar most of the time. I can deal with conceding a huge first innings score given it's Chittagong and it can happen to any team, but this batting display on this deck doesn't even qualify as abject. If they were a football team, they'd be Faroe Islands.

Also, on most of the decks we've played on both home and away have been pretty flat and it's become actually quite comfortable to bat after the 20th or 30th over. But almost without fail, we've lost all at least 4 recognised batsmen by that time and have no one left to fill their boots.

The entire batting lineup should have their scores against the weaker teams temporarily erased from the record so their averages expose them for the utterly pathetic **** ***** that they are until they do better.

"Taijul was meant to be an allrounder" post looking pretty good right now though.

Mominul's numbers in this 8 match run of tests against good teams.

Average of 36.46 (including the ongoing not out innings) is actually much better than I thought. But in 7 of those 18 innings he's scored in single digits (+ a 10 and a 13) and been part of our pathetic collapses. You expect more from a senior batsman.

Has 1 ton and 3 half centuries in 18 innings.

Meanwhile here's fellow senior batsman Mushfiqur Rahim's record:

Comparatively nuggetty with just four single digit scores - plus a 12, 13, 11 and 11.

He has 8 scores between 0 and 13 in his 14 innings compared to 9 for Mominul in his 18 innings. Which, of course, is another feather in his cap.

1 hundred and 1 half century in 14 innings. 🤦‍♂️

Decent partnership. Again the classic problem teams seem to have taking the final wickets. But also a further indictment of how poor the top order played with these two surviving so long.
