Doesn't really matters that much, an opener to no. 3 transition is quite straightforward, especially given he batted there his whole Test career.Amla only batted there three times, without any success.
It's very different in ODIs due to fielding restrictions. Amla was extremely dependent on them due to lack of power and not hitting over the fielders. He has to open.Doesn't really matters that much, an opener to no. 3 transition is quite straightforward, especially given he batted there his whole Test career.
Hmmm..... What about Gibbs? Or would you field Kallis as well? It's very different in ODIs due to fielding restrictions. Amla was extremely dependent on them due to lack of power and not hitting over the fielders. He has to open.
Gibbs is fine for the middle order if you want him in the team.Hmmm..... What about Gibbs? Or would you field Kallis as well?
Van Der Dussen > Gibbs imo. If you want another top order batter in there he's the pick. But then Klusener has to bowl 10.Gibbs is fine for the middle order if you want him in the team.
I'm not playing Kallis. He was a better bat than Gibbs, but I'm not picking this team for that era, and reliability counts for less in an ATG lineup.
Not really sure how to rate VDD.Van Der Dussen > Gibbs imo. If you want another top order batter in there he's the pick. But then Klusener has to bowl 10.
VDD had a really strong showing in the last world cup which makes me think he's the real deal. I'd take him over Gibbs for sure considering VDD is a proper #3. Not sure how VDD compares to Dad though but Faf's numbers are inflated by the modern era too.Not really sure how to rate VDD.
Klusener was a full time bowler. He's weak at this level, and I'd probably play Cronje, but a specialist bat is also fine.
Well, he and Tendulkar debuted in the same year 1989. The violence at the top started around 1993, and was weaponized in 1995 B&H series.Sanath revolutionalized post-Viv batting across both formats. Sure, Tendulkar was there before him in ODIs, but J'suriya brought a different kind of violence to batting at the top.
