This is reminding me actually of the first India test earlier this year which we ended up winning.

A class start by Duckett and Crawley 55 off 11 overs and then we slipped to 125-5 after India started to get it looking unplayable.

Then a good bit of counter attacking and rather than kicking on after counting punching we lose a flurry a wickets and patting ourselves on the back at 245.

Then India go and post 436 with Root our best spinner of the 4 and we're staring down the barrel.

Obviously Pope had miracle third innings and we won. But hope we ain't going to see a repeat second innings like that, I'd not not be surprised if we don't see similar.

Smith is one of the calmer batsmen in this team and he's just thrown away a hundred with an able lower order bat at the other end when we're about 100 short.

Yep if that was Bashir at the other end I'd get it.

But not a bloke averaging mid 30s, second division or not.

I would say that being 118-6 and coming back to this, is at least something. Hopefully the last 2 wickets can be worth a fair few runs and then if we get a couple of early wickets, who knows?

I don't know if anyone listened to the BBC cricket podcast the other day with Bashir and Ahmed. Apparently according to the former, the Pakistanis don't talk to each other in Urdu when he's batting because he understands and they switch to Pastho (spoken in the North of Pak). Apparently they are doing the same with Ahmed now.
