Which players below would you rather watch in their prime and why?

David Gower vs Damien Martyn

Brian Lara vs Viv Richards

Shoaib Akhtar vs Michael Holding

VVS Laxman vs Mark Waugh

Shane Warne vs Thommo

Sehwag vs KP

Waqar vs Steyn

capt_Luffy

Cricketer Of The Year
David Gower (left hand batters are generally more aesthetic)

Brian Lara (same as the previous)

Michael Holding (the most beautiful action of any pacer)

VVS Laxman (Ungodly wrist + Indian)

Shane Warne (Turning those balls hugely from outside leg stump, very pleasing to watch)

Sehwag (on song in SC vs spinners just way too devastating)

Not sure of this one.

Johan

State Vice-Captain
Gower (more elegant imo)

Viv (Monsterous bat against pacers)

Holding (fast, more accurate, beautiful action)

Laxman (again, more elegant and fun as a Batsmen, never liked Waugh)

Warnie personally

Sehwag (like Viv against Spinners, he was unintentionally entertaining against pacers)

Waqar at peak (those yorkers)

Thala_0710

First Class Debutant
Gower (left handers elegance)
Lara (my favourite cricketer ever to watch bar Tendulkar)
Holding (arguably most beautiful action ever)
Laxman (those wrists)
Warne (who doesn't love the ball turning a mile)
KP (favourite ENG cricketer ever)
Waqar (deadly inswinging yorkers)

HouHsiaoHsien

International Debutant

Same except Martyn in the first case

HouHsiaoHsien

International Debutant
Martyn
Lara(tho this is insanely close, since both along with Sobers form a holy trinity of sorts with regards to dynamic batting)
Holding
Laxman(you just need to him batting against Warne in that 281 to understand)
Warne(easiest choice)
Sehwag
Steyn(more versatile)

Patience and Accuracy+Gut

State Vice-Captain
Interesting no one other than me have voted for Thommo. Probably biased opinion here due to being a fast bowler and having strong preference for quicks. But why would you want to watch a guy bowling at 80-90 kmph rather than watching probably the fastest ever?

Because that guy turned the ball like no one else in history. Bowled the ball of the 20th century, and those dismissals of Strauss where the ball pitches almost outside the pitch, Strauss shoulder arms and it takes the leg stump would be my reason

Heard there was some Sri Lankan guy and some NSW bloke who turned it just as much, if not more.

Also the ball of the century is massively overrated.
