Surely Piedt is in line for a batting promotion now
Reckon after 4 ducks in a row, Keshav should be in line for a demotion to nr 11.Surely Piedt is in line for a batting promotion now
That wouldn't be a terrible idea. From what I've heard, hockey makes CSA look like a slick, well-run organisation.Hockey has been responsible for so many sa batters forming a good skillset against spin , something CSA should take note of and perhaps ensure Hockey is well looked after in the country.
Wow. Verreynne showing up twice there. So Kyle Verreynne's 100 is the first by a SA keeper in Bangladesh, SA keepers have tons in 9 different countries now.
First SA keeper to score a Test Hundred in each country :
England - Percy Sherwell (1907)
South Africa - Billy Wade (1949)
Zimbabwe - Mark Boucher - (1999)
Australia - AB De Villiers- (2012)
UAE - AB De Villiers (2013)
India - Quinton De Kock (2019)
West Indies (Saint Lucia) - Quinton De Kock (2021)
NZ - Kyle Verreynne (2022)
Bangladesh - Kyle Verreynne (2024)
To be fair to Verreynne he has had to deal with some pretty dire situations coming in to bat , and his keeping has been really good , many of us were surprised when Conrad dropped him for the West Indies tour of South Africa , he's actually played some pretty amazing knocks in his short career.High quality hundred on a turning pitch from Verreynne.
Finally paying the faith the selectors had in him, was averaging very low after many tests.
Sean Williams credits SA hockey to his spin play as well.Hockey has been responsible for so many sa batters forming a good skillset against spin , something CSA should take note of and perhaps ensure Hockey is well looked after in the country.
I actually had a look at this, I'm going to make a thread about it.To be fair to Verreynne he has had to deal with some pretty dire situations coming in to bat , and his keeping has been really good , many of us were surprised when Conrad dropped him for the West Indies tour of South Africa , he's actually played some pretty amazing knocks in his short career.
We obviously have such a passion for rugby in this country and had a few dual ones like Roy McLean, Eddie Barlow, Peter Kirsten, Herschelle Gibbs that stand out. AB, Kallis & Boucher also had a strong rugby passion.Hockey has been responsible for so many sa batters forming a good skillset against spin , something CSA should take note of and perhaps ensure Hockey is well looked after in the country.
Phehlukwayo? I think he got a high school sports scholarship for hockey. In terms of hockey? Who are our guys?
Trevor Madsen, Jonty Rhodes & now Tristan Stubbs & Kyle Verreynne? Benkenstein & Tsolekile too.
Definitely. Interestingly very KZN dominated.Phehlukwayo? I think he got a high school sports scholarship for hockey.
He tried to grind it out in the first innings but the minute Piedt came on he wanted to hit every ball lolCome on Hasan, give us Joy!
Could that region be somewhere where there's more emphasis on hockey? It's certainly not as big a hotbed for rugby as other parts of the country are.Interestingly very KZN dominated.
