I’ve changed the cutoff date to be 1990 as some complained 1970 was cherry picked to leave out English greats (@Howe_zat)

South Africa:

G Smith
Kirsten
Amla
Kallis
De Villiers
De Kock
Pollock
Steyn
Donald
Rabada
Maharaj

England:

Cook
Stewart
Root
Pietersen
Thorpe
Stokes
Prior
Flintoff
Broad
Swann
Anderson

It's well known that the bulk of England's all time greats come from the older generations. Have mentioned this before but I thought Coronis made an interesting point that the 1966 FIFA World Cup might be a contributing factor.

Smith>Cook
Kirsten>Stewart
Amla<Root
Kallis>Pietersen
De Villiers>Thrope
Pollock>Stokes
Kock<Prior
Steyn>Flintoff
Donald>Broad
Rabada<Anderson (didn't compare Anderson with Donald or Pollock just for the sake of it)
Maharaj<Swann

So, SA it is. Not very close.

Coronis

International Coach
I just shifted the date forward so it didn’t seem like I cherry picked a date to leave those three out.

Hopefully no one complains that Botham and Willis are left out now.
Why are you bothering to post such one sided comparisons is the real issue mate.

There is no point picking all of Pollock, Steyn, Donald, and Rabada when you've also got Kallis. It also has a weakish 7 (Pollock) with only 2 test 100s. Pick Cullinan in the middle order. Sadly Rabada probably misses out, which is insane.

Meanwhile Philander, who would walk into every other team post 1990 except possibly Australia's, doesn't get close.

Root can be the spinner lol. Kirsten vs Cook and Rabada vs Anderson are quite close.
