*OFFICIAL* England in Pakistan 2024

One of those days where you're not entirely sure who's ahead. Despite taking 3 of the 5 wickets, there seemed little in it for the spinners and when the ball started reversing the seamers were far more threatening. Pakistan only having one seamer looks like an issue as the game progresses. It could be that the Pakistani spinners find more turn as the game wears on, but you'd put money on a strengthened England batting line up going big again on this pitch.

They've picked him as an attacking spinner at home and someone who they think will do well in Australia. Leach no good for Aus.

These pitches with the lack of experience he has was always going to struggle.

I think his ceiling his higher than Leach but Leach is definitely better suited as the main spinner in the SC I think. Bashir did very well in India though.
Line of attack that Bashir bowls is favorable in India. Like Ashwin his line is middle and leg that restricts run scoring but works like a charm in India or SL.

In other parts of the world you need to bowl outside off like Swann and Lyon do. I think Ashwin also struggles doing that.

If England can keep it to 350 then that's a good result having lost the toss. Still got to build a lead, which isn't a foregone conclusion, but they'd fancy it given Pakistan have one seamer.

Whatever it takes!!!
Pak have done well. Its good that the new guy scored a 100. Cant be easy replacing Babar in these circumstances. The challenge will be how Pak bowl. As I said before, lot depends on whom the uncles seek revenge. :p

Indian Cricket Webbers, what’s the nearest Indian Test venue to Pakistan? Does that play in any way similarly to these decks?
Mohali and both are not same despite punjab being comman land between both countries( punjab makes about 40% of land and 50% population of pakistan while modern states of punjab haryana and himachal which were parts of undivided punjab make 4% of land and 5% population of india) mohli has black soil and used to be fastest and bounciest pitch in india during 80s and 90s is now a flat pitch and crackes appear as soon as day 4 very much unlike Pakistani pitches

Listened to the opening hour, there seemed to be enough in it for the spinners early doors, think England will have to go big (as in the usual sense of the word, not necessarily as big as last week!) in the first innings to force the win (barring a Pakistani trademark collapse that is!) as the pitch will surely get worse in the next few days

Its funny you should say Mohali. There was a 1998 game against NZ where we were bowled out for 80 odd in the first innings but racked up 500+ in the second innings.

Its very common to have pitches doing a lot in the first session esp. with our SG bals. I actually wonder if Pakistan using the Kook is the issue. If they used Duke or SG instead, maybe it wont be so lopsided in favor of the batters.

This match is still evenly poised.

Pakistan probably need at least another 100 to 150 runs to have the upper hand on this pitch, if they get rolled for under 350 it's advantage England.
