Other than the ball Kamran just got very lucky from in the 20 minutes or so I've been watching it's not really done much.

Why are we playing on the same deck that we were? Could they really not have produced a fresh wicked couple down either side?
Who knows? If they wanted a real turner make a new pitch, water it, roll it only lightly and scalp it. While a couple of balls have gone through the surface it's not real crumbly. I'm surprised that they still left the layer of dead grass on it.

This is where an SG ball with a much more pronounced seam could have been useful.

Land the ball on the seam and you'll get a variation on the bounce.

The kookaburra is just not suited for test cricket outside of Aus/ SA

Must be someone with an entirely special world view who thought that the Kookaburra makes sense as a cricket ball.

I'll bet that if you look at the stats of Pakistan pre the adoption of kookaburra to post the adoption , there will be a major difference in results too.

And these are the simple things that should have been fixed.

Specialist batters will love the ball. Specialist bowlers certainly won't.

I think they've used it in tests for a while. There were rumblings for a long time because they used a different, cheaper brand (Gray's I think) in domestic cricket.

They dominate, AFAIK, due to aggressive marketing. They took over here in the seventies (I think) after they stopped using ones made in England. They attained their complete dominance in with ball cricket after the Dukes ball from the '99 World Cup had the temerity to swing.
