All time ODI XI discussion

Silver Silva

International Regular
But a SL odi atg side can have only 2 pacers and 2 spinners with Jaya, Dilshan and Aravinda covering up 5th bowler. Will you take Kulasekara over Malinga or Vaas?
Murali +Hasaranga/Mendis + Vaas + Malinga would be the attacking options = 40 overs

Jayasuriya + Dilshan + Mathews + Aravinda + Ranatunga would be the defensive options depending on the pitch , if it's spins you have 3 more attacking options ..

This is how you look at the SL attack

Wanindu Hasaranga easily gets in over Ajantha Mendis in this side, especially when you consider his batting as well.
You are messing up T20 and ODI cricket. Wanindu's white ball stats against difficult oppositions are not that stellar. Although he averages 26, his stats against test playing countries is 34.5 compared to Mendis' 23.

Paul Strang every day of the week, twice on Sundays over any Zimbabwean spinner, unless you consider John Traicos Zimbabwean. Pace department I will have Andy Blignaut who will provide that wild pace and wild hitting power instead of Blessing.

Johnson, G Flower, A. Flower, Taylor, Raza, Williams, Taibu, Streak, P. Strang, Blignaut, Brandes would be my side.

Why not have Gibbs open? He performed vs top teams in World Cup unlike Amla and played the greatest ODI knock of all-time.
Amla is a better ODI bat than Gibbs, even adjusting for Era. And I don't think that knock is in top 5 All Time.
