SENA is a ridiculously small field of reference though. Who even are the name spinners from these countries besides Lyon...and Mo to have vied with Ashwin, in the same Tests as you posit?
It is in this ridiculously small field of reference that you measure players instead of over their whole career. Isn't your question ironic in that sense?

Percentage of Tests missed by leading Indian spinner wicket-takers from debut to last match:

Bedi 11, Mankad 12, Shastri 12, Kumble 17, Ashwin 18, Chandra 31, Gupte 32, Jadeja 37, Harbhajan 40, Prasanna 41, Venkat 53.

Apart from the very beginning and end of his career, Bedi was only dropped once - for giving an unauthorised TV interview. Mankad was also deemed undroppable, helped by his batting like Shastri. Chandra, Prasanna and Venkat were in competition with each other. Prasanna missed a dozen Tests while away studying. Gupte was sometimes overlooked in favour of Ghulam Ahmed.

Bedi, Prasanna, Shastri and Kumble played most of their Tests away from home.

Jadeja seems to have suffered more than Ashwin from the improvement in India's pace bowling, and the same might be said of Harbhajan.

Then pray tell, what is the point of trying to use this as a plus for Ashwin if it is such a small reference? Why are you guys harping on it so much?

Whatever it takes!!!

lead spinners of those countries including Maharaj, who helped win a series in Australia as well, just like Ash.

Again, ironic.

Of course its going to be a low sample size when its focusing on a single country away, against whom he’s missed the large majority of tests against.
The lol is the fact that you have to bend over backwards to find someone from that period and yet you will peddle the idiocy than the simple fact that Ashwin is FAR better than any other spinner not named Murali or Warne in the last 40 years.

I didn’t bend over backwards? You claimed something was true and I disproved it.

I’ve also never said that Ashwin isn’t great, or the best spinner since Warne and Murali. All I did was challenge your false stat and you’ve taken it so extremely personally fsr.

False stat

Literally had to go for a guy who played one test.

And its funny how you think calling out the fact that you are lying is personal.

3.

But conveniently change the timeframe to somehow, not prove anything at all? Who’s really bending over backwards?

Please, point out one instance where I have lied. I’ll wait.
What convenience? I literally said post 2016 in the very first post on this topic here. Again...

You haven’t mentioned 2016 at all in any post you’ve made in this thread until now. You’re normally such a rational and chill guy, I’m not sure why you’re getting so bent out of shape here?

Yeah you are right on this one. Think I mentioned 2016 in another thread on the same friggin topic and I somehow thought it was this thread. Its why I was pissed off at you. My bad. But FWIW, I did mean 2016 and I stand by every point I made cricket-wise.

The point is not trying to use this as a plus of Ashwin to up him. The point is others denigrating his status of a whole great career by this ridiculously small field of reference. Everyone knows Ashwin's home performance is so much more greater than away.
