Botham is definitely closer to Ashwin with the ball than Ashwin is to Botham with the bat.
Yeah right..But nobody has been a bigger match winner than Ashwin in home conditions and other lower tier nations. He is simply on another level, wins man of match and man of series like in crazy manner.

Stop mankading people, cancel his Youtube channel, and not be an Indian...in no particular order.
Is it really the Indian part though?

Sachin and Kohli get their flowers, everyone acknowledges how ridiculous Bumrah is...

Just saying .

I think on the career numbers Ashwin may pip it. He’s just a much better bowler. That said, Botham’s peak is so special that you have to give to him (but it’s close)

It would be pretty interesting to see how he would be rated by general people after the end of his career.

Ashwin is going to be seen as an inner circle all time great when he retires. One of the top 30 people to play the game. It will take a bit of reflection to realize what a unicorn he is.

I don't think he will be rated that highly. After all, people like to overrate the players they prefer and underrate those they don't.

I know many people who would rate Dhoni ahead of Sachin as a cricketer.

Ashwin retires and will be forgotten by the rest of the world the next day once Yadav hits his strides.

Ashwin is the type of guy who will be rated lesser than he currently is whenever India loses a home test series, and that's tragic because I've a feeling that will happen after Ashwin retires.

Kuldeep is like 30 and he’s India’s third spinner. He may finish his career with 150 test wickets

the future of Indian cricket is pace not spin

I think Ashwin plays until he’s 42 and finishes with 700 test wickets. The guy is a fighter and has a chip on his shoulder
As long as he doesn't get injured, Ashwin could play till 2027/28 and possibly retire after the next England home series.

He is scoring hundreds aged 38, so I think he can definitely go on until his early 40s. Lyon too will play till 40 (next away Ashes 2027). Lyon is a year younger and is on a similar wicket tally as Ashwin, so imo they will be each other's motivation to keep going..

700 is somewhat unlikely given Jadeja is also in the team and will probably play over him on a number of the away games. So I see Ashwin playing 25-30 more tests and finishing around 650 wickets if he stays fit.

That would be a tragedy for Kuldeep. I hope he gets at least 200 wickets. Such a beauty to watch.
He will get 200. Probably around 250 if he stays fit and maintains his bowling standards.

Currently he should certainly be playing as the 3rd spinner at home over the next few years, before he has to take over as the frontline spinner. But away from home, India might then still opt for someone like Axar Patel.
