Top WK Batsmen to Debut in the 21st century

Similar exercises have been done for pacers, spinners and all rounders. Feels only right to do so for the batsmen. So give your top 20 wicket keeper batsmen to have debuted on or after 1 Jan 2000

We basically did this already

Right forgot about that... Let's transform this thread into a wicket keeper batsmen thread then

Bairstow is too high imo. Butler's Test record is poor, no way better than countryman Foakes. Dhoni above Prior and De Kock easily for me. Bairstow wasn't much with the gloves, even costed his team and Ashes with keeping. Saha is definitely better than Paine (and Haddin and Das as well, but can see arguments there). Also, Taibu should be in

Yeah I agree I rated Bairstow a bit too high probably. Foakes and Taibu didn't make it in because of the min 30 tests as keeper barrier. Dhoni could be definitely be above prior but not above De Kock for me who I believe was superior both with the gloves and the bat to Dhoni. As for Saha vs Paine it was definitely close and saha was far superior with the gloves but Paine had quite a few important knocks for Aus in crisis situations which tilted it in his favour for me.

Yeah, I guess I put more emphasis on keeping here than you. Saha and Jayawardene were, imho, better keepers than anyone else, and still averaged around 30; hence I rate them quite highly.

Yeah it definitely depends on how much emphasis you put on each skill. I prefer to see it in the way that if I could only have one in my team, and he would be the designated keeper, who would I have. For ex I would always pick Rahim over Saha for his much superior batting, but it comes down to preference I guess

I also do that. Infact, I am actually a quite big advocate for "batting first" for keeper. To me, it comes down to overall value you give to the team. Like, for eg: I will choose always Flower over Healy, despite the keeping difference, because I think Flower will make with the bat for the keeping downgrade. For Rahim and Saha, I don't think so. Rahim hit his batting peak after giving the gloves to Litton, as a keeper bat he isn't far better than Saha, and I don't think he was a particularly great glovesman. Hence, I will take Saha. That's how I ranked them as well.

Sarfaraz is an absolutely brilliant bat against spin, but it looks like he was taught to keep by the Ukmal's uncoordinated short-sighted uncle.
