Ponting was actually pretty good in most places, except for the 2 where he toured the most, so that’s what rightfully hurts him here.

England and India are the biggest challenges for an Australian batter in terms of alien conditions. Consistently solid in England but lacks that marquee series there.

Kohli, Root, and De Villiers are probably around the same level as these guys overseas too

Definitely, De Villiers and Root are no brainers and Kohli has some amazing tours to ENG and SA even if in losing causes.

I’d actually rate Kohli higher than than De Villiers and Root overseas. He could end up with like 15 tons in SENA.

I mean, arguably the best ever in SA, consistently Great in Australia and only struggled in England; but also has an ATG series there.

Looking forward to seeing how he does in England next year. He’s had some very tough tours there but could have a much easier one next year.

don't know about that, I say he has some iconic tours but overall he loses out to the other two on the principal of consistency, I definitely think 2015-2019 Kohli was better aways than the other two, outside of that? I don't know.
