English Domestic Season 2024

Really great day for us, especially after losing robbo first ball of the day. Stoneman scoring quickly these days and holden so reliable at 3. Higgins been a revelation at 5, those two both being promoted from 6 and 5. Du plooy a decent overseas batsman has made us into a better batting side than bowling for the first time in about 15 years. Ended up disappointed not to take full batting points which says a lot about how well they played given the conditions around today and being 0-1.

Top 3 in Div 2 all had strong days. A win for Sussex in this game would put them pretty close to promotion, but the final match against Middlesex could yet be massive.

Looks to me that are Lancashire editing the ECB Reporters' Network and then not crediting the source:

removing words like relegation
Just compounded their bad season, with a poor run out

Hurst was looking very good for a ton. Raine picks up the 9th and completes his fifer the next over.

A Lancashire win would really put the cat amongst the pigeons as far as the relegation zone is concerned.
Would drag Durham right into it who finish with Surrey & Kent.

Are we going to see any counties get penalised for the pitches that have been dished up this time around? It feels like no-one wants another high-scoring draw so they have all prepared raging Bunsens, especially at Northampton. Dom Leech was bowled round his legs by a ball delivered from left arm round, pitching at least a foot outside leg stump. On day one.

Gone off for bad light at Hove where Simpson and Clark have put on nearly 200 together. Obviously struggling to see it!!

Lancashire badly need a win vs Durham
Is the difference between the two sides recruitment?
Bedingham settled overseas regularly delivering.
Ackermann brought up from Leicestershire.
Lees from Yorkshire.
all delivered / delivering today.

McKinney, Potts, Raine and Borthwick homegrown. Whereas Lancs reliant on 7 brought (only Bailey and Bohannon experienced) through their age group pathway. Only Jennings of the others delivering (this year).

Just looking at today's 11s.

David Lloyd's solution to the franchise / county championship dilemma with more and more players becoming white ball only.

After the ECB ploughing all those milllions to create a franchise from scratch. His solution on commentary: £5million to the County Championship winners. Then players would want to be part of it.

Campbell is the big difference

We were horrendous under Franklin and the side is largely the same side.

He's come in and effectively done what McCullum did with England.

no Graham Clark today??
He's had a very poor season after Campbell rejuvenated his career last season. Clark didn't get on with Franklin by all accounts.

With the Gay/Rhodes signings hard to see how he gets in the side. Rumour Lees might be off to Yorkshire.

Borthwick has been even worse than Clark and didn't do well last season, entering his last year too. A Brearley like captain in terms of batting contributions.

What you'd expect us to line-up like next season if all available.

Lees/McKinney
Gay
Rhodes
Bedders
Robinson
Ackermann
De Leede
Carse
Raine
Potts
