You do all that and still gavaskar is 2 points ahead on average despite this excluding some of sunny's most productive years.

Even in your filtered period, gavaskar has a virtually spotless all around record, a better away record and scored more than twice (!) the number of hundreds Greenidge did.

This really wasn't a very persuasive case in Greenidge's favour whatsoever. Gavaskar and dravid are both ahead of Greenidge by a pretty sizeable margin. Greenidge is comparable to Martin Crowe, great players who are better than their stats but a clear step below Gavaskar/Dravid.
Where did I argue that Greenidge was better, I said during his prime there wasn't much to choose between them.

But to respond to your post, yes it some of his best years, well one to be precise and against whom?
The twice the number of hundreds part is 1, hilarious because of the amount of innings more one played than the other. And 2, if someone has twice the hundreds and almost the same average, doesn't speak much for consistency for the former.

I never argued that Greenidge was better than either, so again, don't know which point you're arguing against.

What would Greenidge averaged if he played for like England and had to face the WI attack? Maybe like 40?
Honestly given his record in English conditions, don't think he will do too badly. Afterall, WI is but one team. Though will have to play in Australia more.

I am finally getting into the territory of Viv is overrated. Once my favorite batsman and childhood hero, but kyear2 is finally successful in changing my opinion, that Coronis couldn't, all these years.
Was trying to ignore, but alas.

Not sure what in this argument would being you around to this conclusion, outside of I'm going after your guy, so I'll go after yours.

But I never said Sunny wasn't the better batsman, just think the dismissal of how close they were while they played is also not correct.

But I'll leave this here.

Yeah, a straight circle. We both know the outcome really, so no point. But still will do, just not right now.
Never stopped you from engaging in a discussion before, and while I'm sure you'll disagree, don't think there's much of an argument against either tbh.
