Boycott's a **** but mo mediocre c'mon.
not a team player, scored generally irrelevant innings, focused on his own stats vs winning matches, content with glorious draws. Responsible for three decades of English cricket mediocrity

from the top of my head, in the 77 Ashes he had two consecutive match winning performances in Trent Bridge and Headingley, also saving a test against Australia at Lords in 1980 and another match saving performance at Perth I think, a two inning performance that won England a match against Australia in Sydney also a few match defining innings against Windies, like a 99 followed by 112 that led us to a series tie at port of spain.

feel like Boycott may have a fair argument over Greenidge.

Boycott gets a bit overrated because England didn't produce a bonafide ATG batsman in the modern era (pre Root) although I do rate him a lot higher than you.
