***Official*** England vs Sri Lanka 21st August-10th September 2024

Hopefully Wood can stay fit and firing for the next Ashes series down under.

He is the only English quick that is quick enough to rattle the Aussies apart from Jofra but Jofra doesn't seem fit enough to bowl in T20s let alone tests.

Wonder how many Rick O’Shea has in test match cricket from decent throws hitting the stumps

that should keep stattoes busy for the rest of the day

'tis somewhat exhausting. & clearly a comfortable England win looks on the cards but to your earlier point we were about 100-4 with Root out yesterday.

What I am about to say should not be news to anyone who posts on a cricket forum. In red ball cricket, class shows more often than not because the length of the game means that periods of being on top, one-off partnerships etc, won't get you over the line. There are of course exceptions to this like Headingley 2019. But ultimately, I don't think anyone would dispute that England are on paper a class above Sri Lanka and that appears to be coming to fruition. But if sports were just about where you land and not how you got there, all we'd ever do would be look up the result afterwards.

Stokes doppelgänger in attendance and has the shirt with his name on the back as well

Don’t think Potts has quite got the right length and line on this wicket so far in this match

Plenty of effort going in but pretty comfortable for the batsmen to date

The Sri Lankan batsmen aren't having much trouble playing Bashir, they can play spin alright, pace is more of a problem for them.

He probably tries to pass himself off as Stokes in the pubs and clubs, if he got in a fight it would be hard to tell the difference.

that stayed kinda low but you could tell he wasn't very comfortable against Potts this over
