A slightly more competitive game yesterday (helped by Ecclestone being rested) even if it was another comfortable victory for England.

Maybe the T20's will be closer....

When crossing 200 & taking more than 3 wickets is a moral victory, you know it's been terrible.
Also, when your top wicket taker is the seeming England specialist Brooke Halliday, you know something is wrong.

I don't know about the T20s. At least Tahuhu & Kasperek will be in.

I think it's worth pointing out that this is a very good England team at the mo who will push the Aussies all the way in the World T20 in October (and beat them in T20's and ODI's last year). Ecclestone is the top ranked bowler in the world in limited overs by a big margin, Cross has just moved into 2nd. NSB is the top ranked batter. It's a strong team across the board. So yes, NZ are getting a bit of a hiding, but I don't think it's just about their lack of quality.

The Jess & Lea Show was a nice surprise.

What was Devine thinking, opening with Jonas? Straight out of the Wellington Blaze School of Opening with Spin, but Jonas hasn't opened much in T20, & she's not been that good when she has. Leave that stuff to Kasperek, or call up Jetly from whichever club she's playing for this English summer.

Much closer game tonight and NZ will be kicking themselves for 4 dropped catches (2 were sitters really). Not a high quality match to be honest with Capsey failing to tell NSB to review a first baller which would have seen her reprieved. Looked to be heading NZ’s way till a late Kemp cameo turned it around.

Another thrashing probably about to get finished off, although England batters seem in a rush to get there quicker than needed.

Worth pointing out the massive difference in fielding between the 2 teams, NZ have been pretty dire tbh.

What a dreadful tour. England are obviously strong at the moment, but it really feels like we're going backwards.

Yikes. Can we fire Sawyer? I don't care if Cumming has to fill in, just get him out. And at this rate, sack Devine from the captaincy & drop some players. This 3-year gamble has failed.

Reading through some stuff, Jason Wells, the former selector who resigned before this tour, seems to be the common denominator in the events of the last few years. Coaches have come & gone, captains have chopped & changed, & he seems to be there. I wonder how much of the blame is his.

England have chopped and changed all series and rarely played their best 11. It hasn't made any difference. One thing we did see last night was NZ open with spinners and it caused issues (even if Wyatt managed to get out to a long hop first ball). At 87-6, NZ should've been well on top. But Knight and Dean took it away and the chase never remotely looked like being successful.

From an England point of view, no doubt they're well stocked with quality spinners for the World Cup in Bangladesh, but I do wonder about their own batting against spin.

However, they've gone through an entire Summer (yep, that was their last game in mid July) undefeated which is no mean feat.

In all fairness Jonas bowled some beautiful deliveries using the slope well and that C&B was a worldie.

England are strong right now, however, and there is healthy competition for places throughout the squad. I liked Bell's variations and Filer's pace.

Congrats to the Sri Lanka Women. That was a proper hidin' for our girls. Hopefully its just a blip and they have not now inherited the finals yipz from the guys.

Obviously it couldn't stay in Bangladesh, but it's hard to be excited about the UAE as a host. I was hoping Zimbabwe's bid might be successful.
