81/6 doesn't bode well for Sri Lanka that their top 6 has struggled against Division Two CC bowlers.

Yeah England might not quite be there for the taking on this showing.

Hell of a day if you're Josh Hull though. Doesn't really make the Leics team in whites, fairly painful FC average, but here he is knocking over a Test middle order with 43 test centuries between them. Must be onto something

It's a warm-up game for a team that's just arrived in the country ..We will do better in the test series.

Well, he's clearly a talent and at 19, he could be something good6'7 left-armer. Zaman Akhter the bigger shock I'd say,.

Think he skittled both Root and Brook earlier in the season.

Clearly raises his game for the big boys.

If its a torn hamstring i'd be surprised if stokes is fit for the mini ashes in september or the pakistan tour.
is atkinson playing in the 100 circus?
Atkinson is not involved and the irony is they pulled Woakes out of the 100

root is playing this evening

Is today’s action available to see anywhere? All of the Lions’ top 5 have managed to get themselves in so I guess the conditions aren’t that bad for batting, did Sri Lanka just bat very poorly?

Correction re Atkinson. He is bowling tonight in the hundred and has performed a couple of full stretch dives in the field

This isn't quite true, it's been a productive year for openers in the championship. I could get why England don't want to return to Jennings, Lyth or Davies but Emilio Gay for example has scored buckets of runs at 60+.
Division 2 and most of that average is from a 250+ score and 150+ not out, but your point is still valid. I think Jennings could feel quite hard done by.

Its all a bit strange if Cox is gonna bat 6. As I believe hes opened many times for Kent and often has batted
at 3 as well, he would be ideal replacement for creepy. I dunno why they dont have him open and have dan
at 6.

Meanwhile SL all out at worcester for 139 in very damp and bowler friendly conditions, vgood toss to win
and decision by James. Zaman is za man.

I don't think Cox has opened for more than 2 years and has really only come into the England frame this season whilst batting at 4.

prabath jayasuriya looking good
England Lions have a combined FC record of 252 games so probably more to do with their inexperience.

Shaikh(18) and Ahmed(16) both making their debuts, McKinney(19) only his 4th game. Hull(19) in his 9th.

Not an ideal start for Sri Lankas tour and their chances. Albeit a lot more experience in the Sri Lankan side than the Windies.

England being makeshift and being allergic to batting 90 overs will probably make it closer too.
