After my last 4 weeks in Youth 1.1, I'm starting to suspect the tactic on most wickets has shifted to bat last. Of course, I'm going to test that logic today by not batting last on a dry wicket if I win the toss.

I think I still came up 5 runs short batting last against the team I outrated by about 12k though, so who the **** knows?

Extremely narrow (4 run) loss to Son of Coco in the CWP.

Scraped through to the quarters of the cup. Won’t be favoured from here but in with a chance to make the semis or final.

And today we go out and flog the team coming 2nd (we're 3rd now), by 8 wickets.

Can't beat teams I outrate by 12k though. Talk about rocks and ****ing diamonds.

And again...

Outrated the bloke by 14k.

Sitting @ 124/2 chasing 177, we get rissoled for 155 - losing 8 for 31 in the process.

I seem to have forgotten how this game works.

Has to be one of our worst seasons ever finishing bottom 3 in all leagues. To be expected after having a core group of youths graduate last season and then selling off everyone over 28 to focus on a core senior squad.

Probably not going to pay off and we tend to lose 50k a week but gonna ride it as long as I can

I just realised my affiliate team, The Wee Rockets, got promoted to Youth 1.1 despite coming 2nd last season in 2.2...it's going to be a tough season. We have the 2nd lowest rating currently in the group. Brew Boys can dine out on us at some stage when we meet.

After my main team lost to Brew Boys in the CW comp on Wednesday, I thought we might struggle in our opening game of the season in the Aussie Youth 1.1, but after batting first and getting a mediocre 170, we absolutely strangled JUDON'T with the ball, winning by 27 runs in the end. Hopefully the bowling form continues.

Many of my best youths are aging out soon. Should be close when we meet again.

2 close losses in the first week. Senior squad is also aging and past its prime now. Might be time for a rebuild after I’m knocked out of the cup.

We're losing 3 top order bats in 3 weeks very soon, so that will make things interesting. I have bought an average cover bat for 1, but need to find 2 more on a budget. Having huge gaps between decent youth pulls doesn't help!

After yet again losing to a team rated 15k below me last week, I finally cracked the code this week for a win. The secret is rate lower than the team you are playing. I lost 2 players to international teams and one to turning 21, and wa la!

I've got this player up for sale, no base price set if anyone wants a decent bat. Would be good to fetch more than $9k for him.

Timely 3 game run from your lads. Looking like you will survive if you can knock off the cellar dwellers next week.

It's been slightly surprising, especially given we've played 3 teams ranked in the top 4. Hopefully we can get up next week to keep us in div 1 because I think we are positioned to start a bit stronger next season.

Upgrading my keeper a few weeks back and adding a couple of other recruits to strengthen our batting line-up didn't hurt either. It was nice to decide we were going to recruit to give us a chance at staying up and then have that pay off.

In my other Youth game we lost by 1 wicket to the league leaders to say goodbye to a chance at winning the league again this season. We've been ranked no.1 in the country for much of the last 2 seasons and not been able to get up. I lost to this bloke despite outrating him by 15k earlier in the season, and this time I did everything right by rating lower than him due to players being absent on international duty and still lost. We had them 9 down with 20 to get before FTP's obligatory bounce back came into play and they cruised home from there.

We need to drop the no.1 rating ASAP to give us hope next season.
