IR Bell pretty little fifties thread

Joe Root extends his lead as English player with most 50+ scores (92) but doesn't add to his 31 centuries.

Even more concerning is that he keeps on top scoring whilst doing it!!
I've been away a few days so I've not had much chance to really check in other than look at the scores. However, it is not difficult to conclude that there is something of a grim inevitability of a collapse after a promising but not quite delivering innings like that. A PLF always brought a few ifs and buts about what a team innings might look like when a player fails to ton up and then the team folds. So perhaps about 8 years on from when we first brought it up, the old French saying plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose

Who'd have guessed Ollie Pope would provide the first entry to this thread in the English test summer?

And there is a certain inevitability of Harry Brook being added to this list. Never change, England always struggling to ton up.
