Yes it was, especially after he became fully emersed in county cricket in '68? @peterhrt had a post about it. It also forced him down the order, that in itself is hurting the team, he was brilliant at 4, possibly his best position.
As he got older it was harder. Also was factoring in the ridiculous first class schedule and burdens.
The large majority of those matches were later in his career so yeah that doesn’t track.
Like I said, Miller was the closest to a good regular bat and worldclass bowler in one player over a long enough career, falling just short of either.
I think you are vastly overrating Flintoff's batting.
More than Kallis' bowling? I dont think so.
If he's required to bowl a lot of overs in a game then it's more likely that it was a more batting friendly wicket. Therefore having a higher batting average in those games shouldn't be a surprise. Same with bowling less overs meaning less batting friendly conditions and lower batting average.
Goddard is a much better bowler than CdG (and a similar bat).
Flintoff better with the bat than Kapil for me.
