Some polite rebuttal:

Why is Pollock so ahead, given that Flintoff has a much better batting record and they both didn't really do much in WCs?

Starc yes WC matters, but aside from that would Waqar be ahead of him?

Aside from WC Waqar would be ahead for me, as will Bumrah; but definitely being the GOAT WC bowler has pluses.

Pollock was the #1 ODI bowler for the longest period. That should be enough to rate him.
Starc and Lee for me turned better performances than Waqar
Tendulkar is the #2 batsman, McGrath is the #1 bowler
Murali is the #2 ODI bowler, Garner is behind Wasim at least.
Klusener and Kapil are the closest. Here i go for player I like.

Bolo.

International Captain
I'm also curious about the waqar votes given the difference in eras between him and Starc.

Kapil Ranked number 1 for a period longer than Klusner's entire career.

Irrelevant. He was not in top with either bat or ball for a long time. Balanced all rounders are way too overrated. I always prefers ARs who are ATG in their primary discipline. This is the exact issue with Botham. That is the very reason I rate Sobers, Imran, Kallis and Hadlee over those two.

(Nor was Klusener, here it was my personal preference and I have stated it)

I agree on tests, but there is definitely a place for balanced ARs in ODIs.

Anyway, anyone using 80s ODI rankings for batting in particular as a means of defending a player should be forced explain why ****en Kepler Wessels of all people (in fairly mediocre form) is the 20th best ODI bat of all time. The rankings for Kapils era are clearly garbage.

It is very simple.

If I were to select a single player among Kapil, Donald, Tendulkar and Murali in ODIs, it would be Tendulkar, Murali, Donald and Kapil in order. The impact first two brings in is independent of the opposition. They are among the best of the best in white ball game.
