Again, WI with Roach, Holder and Joseph does have a half decent bowling attack. So if some great fails there and his team losses/draws the series; he should definitely be penalized. More so, an attack of Bruce Taylor (aka proto Bond) and Dick Motz is actually quite good. If his record in NZ doesn't counts, then India and Pakistan shouldn't count as well.
I mean, Sobers against NZ to me is a minor blemish at most then. I take Tendulkar and Hobbs as better away. Even Viv.

Australia were one of the only two very strong opposition in his time and he only averaged 43 vs them and 46 in Australia. It's a perfect good record but not particularly amazing by ATG standards at all.
Really good point. It’s really annoying when this goes unmentioned during comparisons of Sobers with other bats

Yeah, re Sobers I think now he is taking quite a heavy beating not completely deserving..... Some of his best works also came in matches which are no longer considered Tests, like RoW vs Australia and England games, in both of which he top scored and have absolute classics like the 254 vs peak Lillee.

Bradman is the greatest sportsperson who has lived, forget cricket. No one has been that relatively dominant not just in their time but in a historical context
Jahangir Khan heavily disagrees. The biggest outlier in men's sports. There is a Aussie lady who sis the same in squash who was even a bigger outlier.
