Match #45- Super Eights, England vs South Africa(D), Darren Sammy Cricket Stadium, Saint Lucia-- June 21st- Group 2

Should still go through. Only need to beat America convincingly. But feel this is a good but flawed England team. If they're gonna win it, a few of the big players will have to seriously turn it on.

Don't imagine it would have made a difference, but yeah, weird choice. Lame end but puts us in a good NRR position I guess

Yes, we need two of the four batsmen to make large contributions and that won't always happen.

Baartman would be relieved, he did his best to choke that for South Africa with a horrible over of pies but England let him off the hook.

I dunno. Curran hitting two 4s to tie the match was still likelier than Archer doing that.
Archer has probably not had a serious bat in years, but I would consider him the hitter of the two. Curran's SR is under 120.

Decent game, if England had a batsman instead of Wood they might have won.

SA not safe though, if Eng beat USA and SA lose to WI, Eng look almost certain to be ahead of them on NRR.

Forecast for Sunday not great though. Might need SA to beat WI to go through if it’s rained off.

Kinda throws out the accepted line of thinking that chasing 2 runs/ball in the last 8 or so overs is imminently doable in T20s. Can't afford to let the required rate go much above 8 rpo at all.
It is on pitches were you can hit through the line. Not on slow pitches were it takes time for new batsmen to find their groove.
