Match #42- Super Eights, West Indies vs England (N), Darren Sammy Cricket Stadium, Saint Lucia-- June 19th- Group 2

Watching the highlights now and what a thoroughly dominant display from England in the battle of the only two great T20 international sides. England now clear favourites for the title.

Just flicked through the game without knowing the result. Yeah, not sure what happened when Rashid and Moeen came on, but it totally changed the game. Thought England batted sensibly at the start against Hosein, no daft, cheap wickets and then got stuck into the others. Still not sure if Wood is a good fit for this team. Topley can bowl better, too many wides but he's brought more control with the new ball.

With a big boost in the NRR, difficult to see how England don't make the semis now, assuming the USA game doesn't get rained off. But I fancy us to beat SA anyway.

We bowled alot better in this game - Wood is the only question mark for me.

Another great spell by Rashid - he doesn't get the recognition he deserves.

He's been a great white ball bowler for years and can bat a bit as well.

After a really shaky group stage, we needed this performance and uts a massive step in the right direction.

I actually broadly agree with your point, but currently:

Brandon King going down as he was just about getting on with things was big blow for us.

Gotta move on from Johnson Charles, his outdated style of batting doesn’t work in the slightest. He’s just a poor version of Dwayne Smith.

There was a period in our innings where we were just playing out the spinners instead of taking them on (barring Liam). We left some runs out there.

Whatever score we would have ended up with, 200-plus, England was definitely going to chase it down…we needed this back-to-earth moment.

Hopefully we comes back strong and beat USA and the Proteas, and probably see how NRR goes.
We are not out as yet.

Love how much whip Rutherford generates on his offside strokes. Don't think I've ever seen that sort of exaggerated wristwork.

Handy performance that one. And well selected by captain and coach. Jacks wasn't missed at all, and playing Curran in this format looks a lot more sensible than in the 50 over version.
