*Official* Windies Team for the World Cup

Finally, they have announced the squad,

1. Rovman Powell (c)
2. Alzarri Joseph (vc)
3. Johnson Charles
4. Roston Chase
5. Shimron Hetmyer
6. Jason Holder
7. Shai Hope
8. Akeal Hosein
9. Shamar Joseph
10. Brandon King
11. Gudakesh Motie
12. Nicholas Pooran
13. Andre Russell
14. Sherfane Rutherford
15. Romario Shepherd

Notable exclusions: Obed McCoy, Kyle Mayer, Oshane Thomas

Shamar's inclusion is a result of rolling the dice...very green in this format. Kyle Mayers didn't make it because he's not played any cricket over the past few months (?).

And a reminder to everyone, Roston Chase is Thanos.
:naughty: 🐮

Seeing that the match against Afghanistan is a dead rubber, might as well make the obvious change of Shai Hope in for Johnson Charles.

Either Hetmyer shows some more inventiveness or more we’ll see him on the bench. Would it be crazy trying him as an opener? No. He opened batting for Guyana before in FC

Beamer

International Vice-Captain
We are where we are because of hard work and dedication. There was a time not too long ago when we were at the nadir...lots of criticisms

#3 in the world.
Also Darren Sammy has brought a clear brand and style back that prioritises our big hitting capability right down the order.

It might not always work but the guys know the brand to play and it has brought some much needed clarity.

I don't think we had a clear style under Simmo.
