Mbappé to Madrid, lol. Just give them all the trophies next season
They had a fair bit of luck in the Champions League this season (as they so often do). If Pep gets City back to their best, they're a better all round team than Real (and to be honest, showed that in the QF but couldn't get the job done). They'll also have to fill the hole left by Kroos.

I doubt this is much of an issue, if at all.

Valverde and Camavinga are beasts and the experience/leadership can be covered by other players anyway.

The RM mentality is real but the whole gameplan this year was dependent on opponents missing a load of easy chances. They were very much beatable and they'll still be beatable with Mbappe.

calling Real lucky after that final is disingenous, 2 of Dortmund’s high scoring chances came from offside moves that would have been ruled out if there was a goal and Dortmund were the beneficiaries of huge luck in the 1st place to get past PSG

Real’s plan seemed simple, sit back and let Dortmund tire themselves out by trying to play at an intensity they usually dont and then kill the match. maybe it changes if Ademeyi puts away that 1v1 or if Fullkrug doesnt make a mess of the free header but its hard not to see them scoring regardless

Mbappe may add some temporary issues with their playing structure but if there is one dude who can figure it out its Carlo the man is the most flexible manager in football. Kroos retirement will hurt the team since they dont have anyone that can control the tempo of a match like he does at such a consistent rate while also being creative but tbh there isnt anyone out there capable of the same barring maybe Rodri, they can still brute force their way through most teams anyway

if Dortmund management have half a braincell they will thank Terzic for his overachievement and get him to **** off, sign Maatsen permanently despite his disasterclass in the final and sweet talk Man Utd to loaning them Sancho again on favourable terms. they should also try to woo de Zerbi to their club before Milan get serious with him

Bit of a misconception that Kroos is a destroyer or a brute. Camavinga is that guy in the current Madrid squad.

Kroos hasn't been that in a long time, although at his best that was his game. 2013-'15 Kroos when he had the engine and speed to get around the pitch was one of the best midfielders I've seen. You could put him in conversations with '08/09 Gerrard in terms of his all round play.

Rodri is something else compared to most atm. Best current 6 in world football and I don't think its particularly close (even if Rice fans say otherwise)

what

never called Kroos a destroyer, he controls the pace of the match with passing and positioning. even at his prime he was never someone you could call a destroyer, he was playing at the base of the 3 midfield in 2014 as a regista like figure

I know you didn't but it was confusing when you compared him to Rodri and spoke about brute force at the same time

That season I was referring to in 13/14 at Bayern he wasn't at the base of a midfield 3 anyway. When he was playing deeper it was usually in a two with Schweinsteiger or Martinez. Thiago played there abit too while Kroos was regularly further up as the most advance midfielder. Pep certainly never used Kroos as a regista that season.

In 12/13 when they won the UCL (he missed the last few months that season) he again was in the more advance role of a 3 with Luiz Gustavo and Schweinsteiger behind him in a pivot. Muller took that role in the run home.

When Germany went on to win the WC in 2014 he wasn't at the base of that midfield either as again Schweinsteiger and Khedira were the more defensive players.

I can't recall him playing much as a regista tbh, certainly not in his last few seasons at Bayern or really at Madrid (few exceptions when Casemiro was injured).

Well, Arsenal's pursuit of Sesko is dead in the water.
Will get his move next summer, probably a smart play from both player and his club - they'll get more for him next season and another year at Leipzig will be great for his development. Too many young strikers moving for big money too soon at the moment.

Would be interesting to know if he simply rejected Arsenal or if Arsenal walked away.

Given his path to date there's a very decent chance he ends up at Liverpool instead.

I assume lack of a viable alternative being the main reason. Do they have someone in mind who is not currently available?

As soon as Southgate figures out what a regista is...

Though from likes above it seems he's not the only one still figuring it out.
