I suspect pre-booked England fans will not be moving from the beaches of St Lucia or Barbados if that's the case. I'm also not sure how many of them will be there anyway, I suspect many will have chosen Germany instead for the Euros.
There’s a lot here! Sadly I’m going home tomorrow

Mott has taken this team backwards, I feel we are reaching a bit of a crisis point in English Cricket and a lot of it is the "100" factor

Also not a lot of people are that bothered about this in England (Sure the GE, Euros, Olympics) will be bigger but it like the country nowadays is giving a "Meh" to Cricket.
This is an overreaction. The Ashes last year got the country’s attention in a way cricket very rarely does. Euros will always take precedence on the back pages but there’s plenty of interest in this tournament. And the 100 is nothing to do with it.

You're out there amongst cricket fans (and holiday makers, there's always a large contingent of English in Barbados at any time of year). For those of us back here, there really isn't much press coverage at all. England could fall out of this tournament with a whimper on Saturday and it will barely get noticed.....especially with the Euros having started by then.

The internet still works here though and the coverage is not noticeably different to normal.

Based on the statistically significant sample of The Dads At My Son's Football Training, I would say that "quite a few people" are following the T20I WC, though the Euros are unsurprisingly seen as a bigger deal. There was some chat on Saturday about the Pakistan/USA result (not instigated by me) which I was pleasantly surprised by.

When you say not instigated, does your mere presence encourage cricket chat? "Here comes that Chris Woakes stalker, anyone got a cricket story"???

That's the only game I've heard talked about or even mentioned on my whatsapp groups (one of which is cricket specific).

Pretty much.

One of the other Dads (who I don't speak to often) asked me if I'd watched the USA game basically as soon as I arrived. Not sure I'd even spoken to them about cricket before (I have with some of the others) but I did turn up in an England cricket cap tbf.

Clearly wants to be your friend and this was his 'in'....probably been planning it for days.

Even when I used to coach cricket, I got the impression that most of the Dads there had precious little interest in it and you could never discuss England games with more than about 2 or 3 of them.

Seems unlikely.

Maybe he just wanted Someone To Talk To and had tried to start a conversation with all the other Dads to arrive before me as well, based on their headwear.

For England to fail to qualify from a group of Australia + Oman, Scotland, Namibia would (no disrespect to those teams) be pitiful.

If you had to choose between being in a group of pissed Poms in Barbados or in the Fatherland, you’d be mental to get amongst the Hun. It’s not even a contest surely.

Much like the Aus-England game

It's still funny, but having groups with only 4 games really exposes teams to be done over by weather. Another rained out game and England is gone. Small groups should come with spare days. Limited overs cricket is not like soccer where draws are regular and you can play through the rain.

It was the same at the last tournament. Semi-finalists semi-decided by rain*

*or at least that was a better excuse than "we didn't have warm up games" or "no one in England cares about it anyway (right? right?) so it doesn't matter"
