Both given India didnt have any real batting left after Hardik in the latter, and Pak were performing really brilliantly well with the ball(I mean they had the most experienced foreign T20 bowler in MCG), and in the latter Pak’s batting was generally ****, and the pitch was still to difficult to freely play on. IMO Kohli’s knock was an all time to 5 knock in the format

You can reverse the batting order , promote someone like Naseem Shah or Shaheen Afridi up the order they have zero pressure even a quick 15 or 20 will win you the game..

Pakistan defeated themselves , the only guy that was unplayable was Bumrah ..There was nothing special about Pandya, Arshdeep Singh , Siraj, Patel or Jadeja on the day ..

The fact that they still had 3 wickets left despite playing so bad shows they were way too conservative where as the first option you can only play one way because of the scoreboard pressure.

I can acknowledge that maybe yesterday was somehow tougher but not way tougher. Getting 120 odd with Kohli and Hardik(an extremely limited batsmen) as nearly your established bat against a firing bowling attack on a wicket with good bounce was near impossible, especially considering Kohli’s form prior. How he pulled off 28 of 8 bats and those sixes off Haris was equally unimaginable or atleast close

Also IMO Siraj except for his last over bowled pretty well, and Hardik was brilliant in his last two: on a pitch where slower balls were a holding a bit, he mixed them well with well directed bouncers.

Personally as a fan I’ll be honest, even if it sounds crazy, I somehow felt we will win yesterday, but in the 2022 game after Ind were 45/4, I though we were done for.

Once the ball got old snd soft round the 10th over you had to deal with lining up the ball with the inconsistent bounce and the soft ball at the same time.

In hindsight, India probably won the game in the 1st 10 overs when pant and axar got them way ahead of the rate.

Yeah I'm not for one moment buying the "oh but the pitch was hard" excuse. Unless it is an actual dustbowl turning sideways with the ball rolling on the ground, you should be able to score 40 runs in seven overs with as many wickets in hand if you are a vaguely competent international batting order.

Did you actually watch the back end of pakistan's innings? Pakistan didn't help themselves by batting like muppets, particularly rizwan, but the bounce was inconsistent and balls where stopping in the pitch with a ball that was soft and out of shape. Bumrah is hard enough to score off in normal conditions, doing it on that type of pitch was near impossible.

I'm not blaming this all on the pitch, FYI. Like I said, there was some bad batting. The ball that got rizwan really only kept a bit low. Trying to hit bumrah out of the ground first ball of his spell in that position was beyond stupid from rizwan, and forced a new batsmen to try and get a grip for the conditions against the best white ball bowler in the world.

Maybe he figured he'd kill off the chase by getting into Bumrah first-up. Not like he was new to the crease, he had seen off his opening spell. It looks foolish post-event but the shot was sort of on with the ball tailing in conventionally on a hittable length.
