What are the calculations after they lose to Namibia?
How quickly they can send a P45 to Mott!!What are the calculations after they lose to Namibia?
For perspective, having to win both games by 58 runs seems harder when Australia only beat Oman by 39 runs (although they weren't under the NRR pressure England is)To do this, they need to beat Namibia and Oman by a combined 116 runs if batting first, or chase in 28 overs across the two if batting second. Personally, I think if they win the toss they should bat first and aim to go big, easiest way to make a bid dent in NRR.....which looks very achievable against Oman judged on what we saw yesterday.
Absolutely.Would a South African born associate XI be able to qualify for a WC ?

2.Andries Gous (WK) (USA)

they're all players playing in the WC aren't they? So logically speaking, unless they are all one of the worst players in their respective teams then they clearly wouldWould a South African born associate XI be able to qualify for a WC ?

I think the other factor is that they're playing both games in Antigua. That pitch yesterday looked ripe for a big score, far more so than the pitches in Barbados. If the England Top 3 get going then there's no doubt they could stick 250 on Oman on that pitch. For perspective, having to win both games by 58 runs seems harder when Australia only beat Oman by 39 runs (although they weren't under the NRR pressure England is)
They're not really seedings as such, it's more about which Super 8 group you go into. Aussie fans know where their team is going and can plan accordingly. The crazy thing about this is that if England just scrape in by NRR, while Australia dominates, England would still retain #1 seed for Super 8's
No they don't. If Scotland get in Australia will be #1 and go to Group 2, while if England get in Australia will be #2 and go to Group 1They're not really seedings as such, it's more about which Super 8 group you go into. Aussie fans know where their team is going and can plan accordingly.
Don't think that's the case. Australia keep their seeding no matter what, Scotland would take England's spot.No they don't. If Scotland get in Australia will be #1 and go to Group 2, while if England get in Australia will be #2 and go to Group 1
I suspect pre-booked England fans will not be moving from the beaches of St Lucia or Barbados if that's the case. I'm also not sure how many of them will be there anyway, I suspect many will have chosen Germany instead for the Euros.Good to know. Here I was thinking Aussies already booked tickets and would end up watching Scotland instead
Actually, that means pre-booked England fans may now be turning up for Scotland
I'm genuinely surprised he's still in a job. He's obviously not a terrible coach, but certainly not, like, an all-timer of a coach as his record with the Aus women's team would suggest. And he's a bad fit for this England side; it's one thing entirely when you have an established core of leaders of the calibre of Meg Lanning and Rachael Haynes, it's quite another when it's Jos Buttler and Jonny Bairstow. How quickly they can send a P45 to Mott!!
I don't think it really mattered what he did when he was in charge of the Aussie women, they were so superior in both talent and funding that they could run themselves. That they had such a natural leader in Lanning too made it even easier.I'm genuinely surprised he's still in a job. Excellent point this. I really don't care that much if we get knocked out, I'll be far more invested in the Euros anyway. Concerning that someone like me should feel this way, are the less committed even watching? With WI and SL to follow, it's almost like an entire International Summer of Cricket will probably just pass on by.Mott has taken this team backwards, I feel we are reaching a bit of a crisis point in English Cricket and a lot of it is the "100" factor
Also not a lot of people are that bothered about this in England (Sure the GE, Euros, Olympics) will be bigger but it like the country nowadays is giving a "Meh" to Cricket.
Thing is, you'd think that whatever it's effect on the other formats, the 100 should help England for T20Is. Agree that the side has gone backwards under Mott - though the loss of Morgan as captain is probably a big part of that. Jos is obviously a great white ball player and seems a nice guy but not the most inspirational leader.Mott has taken this team backwards, I feel we are reaching a bit of a crisis point in English Cricket and a lot of it is the "100" factor

Nothing wrong with WI and SL visiting England.I don't think it really mattered what he did when he was in charge of the Aussie women, they were so superior in both talent and funding that they could run themselves. That they had such a natural leader in Lanning too made it even easier.
But he did win the 2021 T20 World Cup, the problem was that that was clearly a very talented team come to the natural end of their time together. It needed to be broken up then, but it hasn't been. Quite why the likes of Wood, Jordan, Bairstow, Livingstone are still in this squad I have no idea. As for leadership, it ought to be better. It's not like Buttler and Moeen don't have an abundance of experience of playing at the top of the game with some of the most influential leaders (Morgan, Dhoni), yet they continue to make such basic errors on team selection that the rest of us have all highlighted way before they even happen.
